Albert Chie wants the creation of the Trehnbo vocational school

Acting Liberian Senate Speaker Albert T. Chie has submitted a bill to be enacted to establish the Trehnbo Vocational School (TVS) in Grand Kru County.

In his communication to the plenary on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, Chie said that the vocational school, once promulgated and funded, will admit and benefit students from Grand Kru County and other southeastern counties and the population of Liberia in general.

According to him, the school will create a livelihood for students in carpentry, home economics, plumbing, environmental technology and electricity, among others.

He said the bill is aimed at youth empowerment and decentralization of vocational education facilities and privileges, adding that the proposed vocational school is one of the government’s strategic plans for youth empowerment.

Chie noted that the government of Liberia, through its pro-poor for prosperity agenda, prioritizes the decentralization of basic services.

For his part, Grand Kru County Senator Numene Bartekwa put forward a motion accepting the bill and the reading constituted first reading. The bill will be placed on the agenda for Thursday, August 5, 2021 for its second reading, at which time it will be debated in accordance with the rules of the Senate.–Edited by Winston W. Parley
