Confirmed case of COVID-19 at Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School

OTTAWA – The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) says a person who attends Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School has tested positive for COVID-19.

It is not known whether this person is a staff member or a student. The UCDSB said the health unit and school board are not directly disclosing details of a COVID-19 case at a school to the public.

“The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) works closely with the school and actively communicates with everyone, including students and staff who have been identified as possible close contacts due to high risk exposures, ”the UCDSB said in a statement. “The school and the health service are taking all necessary measures to prevent the spread of the virus both in the school and in the community.”

The school remains open.

It is not an epidemic. According to provincial guidelines, a school COVID-19 outbreak is defined as two or more laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and / or school staff with an epidemiologic link, over a period of 14 days, where at least one case could reasonably have acquired his infection at school (including transport and custody before or after school).
