Former MSU student and Regent Sanford Holbrook named KEDC Superintendent of the Year

Sanford Holbrook (Class of 1997, 2003, 2006), Superintendent of the Robertson County School System, was named Superintendent of the Year by the Kentucky Educational Development Corporation (KEDC).

“I am honored and honored to be recognized as the 2021 KEDC Superintendent of the Year,” said Holbrook. “I am fortunate to be part of a great Robertson County team. My students give me my drive and my passion to work hard in my job every day. MSU’s Educational Leadership Program has provided me with lifelong learning tools to be an effective superintendent and educator. ”

Holbrook received three degrees from MSU: a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture – Vocational Education in 1997, a Master of Science in Vocational and Technical Education in 2003, and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration in 2006. Before becoming Director of Schools at the MSU. Robertson County, Holbrook has served as Deputy Superintendent, Director of the Regional Center of Technology (ATC), Director of Finance and Federal Programs, Coordinator of Vocational and Technical Education (CTE), and Career and Technology Professor. He received the 2017 Outstanding Community Leadership Award from the Buffalo Trace Area Development District and Robertson County.

He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Educational Development Corporation and Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Interlocal School Transportation Association (KISTA). He is a member of the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents (KASS), the Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA) and the Kentucky Education Association (KEA), as well as a former member of the Kentucky Soil and Water Commission from 2011 to 2015.

Holbrook has served on the MSU Board of Directors since 2018. He was elected Vice President this year.

KEDC is an organization that consists of 67 member districts statewide and is the oldest and largest educational cooperative in Kentucky. It provides educational support services to members, including technology wiring, special education support, and professional development opportunities.
