Gunmen Kill Bayero University 2021 First Class Graduate

Sule Mathew, a former PRNigeria intern and first-class graduate in Information and Media Studies from Bayero University in Kano (BUK), was killed by gunfire.

According to PRNigeria, Matthew was recently killed alongside other passengers in Ekwulobia, one of Anambra’s biggest towns, while traveling to the southeastern state. The deceased were deposited at Ekwulobia General Hospital.

Salis Manager, Mathew’s classmate and former intern at PRNigeria, revealed that his friend was a potential corps member.

“Mathew was among the first group of students to intern at PRNigeria, Kano in 2019,” Salis reportedly said.

He also said Mathew lost his father in June 2021, months away from his final exam.

Gambo Ibrahim, who has lived with him since graduation, said Mathew was on a six-month non-residential fellowship program that trains and mentors young activists to push for democratic reforms.

Mathew’s sister, like Jemila, revealed he was traveling with his boss alongside other passengers and the driver in a private vehicle.

“After assaulting them, the gunmen opened fire on them, killing all of them except the driver who escaped. So when we couldn’t reach him and hear about the incident, we sent Sule’s photo to the morgue to confirm if he was among those killed and we received reports that he was identified among those killed,” Jemila reportedly said.

Mathew is from Ayangaba in Kogi State. According to PRNigeria, he was co-founder of, a Nigerian social enterprise that aims to make informal and vocational education accessible and affordable for all by connecting all categories of learners with the most suitable tutors.
