The Department of Teacher Education advertises a full-time Postgraduate Fellow position. The appointment is for a period of 2 years. This is a fixed-term position with the main objective of qualifying for senior academic positions. The position is related to the research project International Comparative Research on Vocational Education and Training connected to the research groupInequality, well-being and organizationdirected by the associate professorEli Smeplas.

The project focuses on generating innovative research on the Norwegian vocational education and training (VET) system compared to training models in other countries.
We are looking for a post-doc with good qualifications in methodology as well as theoretical knowledge related to education systems in a comparative perspective. Relevant thematic areas are well-being and integration, organization, social relations and market mechanisms.

Job duties

  • Contribute to research in vocational education and training
  • Participate in the implementation and reporting of projects
  • Contribute to the development of new perspectives on vocational education and training systems
  • Contribute to joint requests for external funding
  • Administrative tasks related to own project
  • Ensure professional accountability with other academic staff in the academic community

Selection criteria required

  • You must have obtained a Norwegian doctorate or a corresponding foreign doctorate recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian doctorate
  • You must have relevant professional training in education or social sciences
  • Language requirements – Scandinavian or English
  • Documented skills in methodology
  • In-depth knowledge of research in education, well-being and organization
  • Experience with independent research

The appointment must be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning employees and civil servants of the State and national guidelines for appointment as doctor, post-doc and research assistant

Preferred Selection Criteria

  • Previous research work related to education systems and/or VET research
  • Research funding application experience
  • Good written and oral English

  • Ability to cooperate in an interdisciplinary field

We offer

Salary and conditions

As a postdoctoral fellow (code 1352), you are normally paid from NOK 553,500 gross per year before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian civil service pension fund.

The term of employment is 2 years.

The engagement must be carried out in accordance with the regulations in force concerning employees and civil servants of the State and the laws relating to the control of the export of strategic goods, services and technologies. Applicants who, after evaluation of the application and attachment, are found to conflict with the criteria of the latter Act will be barred from recruitment at NTNU.
