Reinforced OLS imposed on Kuala Kangsar religious school after 27 positive cases

KUALA LUMPUR: The Reinforced Movement Control Order (MCO) has been imposed on Sekolah Agama Bantuan Kerajaan (SABK) Maahad Al-Yahyawiah in Padang Rengas, Kuala Kangsar, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

The defense minister said tests carried out at the school on November 5 revealed there were 27 cases of Covid-19.

“Based on the advice from the Ministry of Health, the special meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) decided to impose an improved MCO on the school from November 8 to 21.

“This will allow health ministry officials to conduct targeted screenings involving 123 students and 11 staff to prevent the spread of the virus,” he said in his daily briefing on Saturday (November 7th).

Meanwhile, Ismail also announced that the enhanced MCO at Taman Semarak and PPR Sri Balung in Tawau, which started on October 26, will end as planned on November 8.

“As of November 5, the Ministry of Health has carried out 2,051 screenings and only 13 positive cases have been detected.

“Based on the risk assessment conducted by the ministry, it showed a downward trend in infections and the situation is under control.

“We have therefore decided to put an end to the reinforced MCO in the two localities on November 8, as planned,” he added.
